Product Description
STEINEL L 10 S, black, is an outdoor wall light with a motion sensor for entrances, facades, terraces and courtyards. Its traditional lantern shape combines a structured plastic diffuser with reflective foil beneath the lid to help distribute the bulb’s light. An E27 lamp holder lets you choose and later replace the bulb. Article number 084769.
Main benefits
- 180° motion sensor: the light switches on automatically when movement is detected and ambient light is below the selected threshold.
- Up to 7.5 m reach: suitable for an entrance path, passage beside the house or terrace, with a detection zone that can be adapted to the site.
- 5 sec–60 min light-on time: choose a short period for passing through or a longer period for extra time at the entrance.
- 2–2000 lx twilight setting: select operation only in darkness or in brighter conditions as well.
- Replaceable E27 bulb up to 15 W: choose the brightness and light colour to suit the location; bulb sold separately.
- IP44 and a UV-resistant housing: designed for outdoor wall mounting with protection against water splashes.
- Classic black lantern design: the structured diffuser adds a decorative finish beside an entrance or terrace.
Choosing the bulb
The light takes one E27 bulb rated at a maximum of 15 W. Choose a suitable E27 LED bulb. Luminous flux, colour temperature and actual power consumption depend on the fitted bulb. The bulb is not included; this is not a light with an integrated 15 W LED module. Replacing a worn bulb or changing the light colour does not require replacing the entire fitting.
Do not connect this fitting to a dimmer. Use the intended on/off control.
Sensor operation and positioning
The passive infrared motion sensor (PIR) responds to heat radiation from moving bodies. Reach is up to 7.5 m (88 m²) across the detection zone and up to 3 m (14 m²) when approaching directly. For the best detection, position it to the side of the expected direction of movement. The optimum mounting height is 2.5 m; the maximum is 3 m (manufacturer’s specified range 2–3 m). Walls and glass block the heat radiation detected by the sensor.
The supplied lens shrouds let you exclude unwanted detection directions, such as a public pavement beside the entrance. They can be trimmed along their markings; the rotatable design ring also helps adapt the detection zone. Set the light-on time and twilight threshold using the controls on the fitting.
Further technical information, installation and package contents
Construction and connection
Dimensions 224 × 175 × 255 mm (depth × width × height); net weight 785 g. The housing is made of UV-resistant plastic, with a structured plastic diffuser rather than glass. Reflective foil is fitted beneath the lid. Designed for outdoor wall mounting, with surface wiring supported.
Supply 220–240 V AC, 50–60 Hz; electrical protection class II with double insulation. Protection IP44, impact resistance IK03 and operating temperature −20 to +40 °C. Connect according to the manufacturer’s instructions with the supply isolated.
Settings and everyday use
The lowest twilight setting enables switching in darkness; the highest setting can be used for a daylight test. The time setting determines how long the light remains on after the last detected movement. Each new detection restarts the timer; after switching off there is a pause of approximately one second before movement is detected again. Factory settings: 5 seconds and 2000 lx. Start with the shortest time when checking the detection zone. To reduce unwanted switching, avoid moving branches or heat sources within the coverage area, or mask the relevant zone.
This model has no standby basic light, adjustable main-light brightness, automatic storage of the twilight threshold (Teach-in), or remote control. The L′ output can switch a wired L 10 without a sensor together with this sensor light (master/slave). The manufacturer also shows a connection for linked sensor lights to switch together (master/master). Observe the additional-load limits and the applicable wiring diagram.
Additional lighting load on the L′ output
The manufacturer’s switching ratings apply to the lighting load controlled by the sensor; the fitting’s own E27 bulb remains limited to 15 W. Total LED load: 16 W when each LED bulb is below 2 W; 64 W when each LED bulb is greater than 2 W and less than 8 W; 64 W when each LED bulb exceeds 8 W.
Incandescent and halogen load up to 1000 W; low-voltage halogen up to 1000 VA; electronic ballasts up to 1000 W. Fluorescent lamps without correction, with series correction or with parallel correction are each limited to 500 VA. Capacitive-load limit 132 µF. Do not add the individual load ratings together; follow the manufacturer’s wiring diagram.
Package contents and warranty
Supplied with one light and mounting accessories (2 screws and 2 wall plugs), plus 6 sensor lens shrouds. The E27 bulb and self-adhesive house-number set are not included. 3-year manufacturer warranty under its terms. Plastic-free packaging. Clean the sensor lens and housing with a soft damp cloth; avoid aggressive cleaning agents.
