Product Description
A long detection zone for corridors
The STEINEL Hallway COM1 AP is a white Control PRO II presence detector for automatically controlling indoor lighting. Its 5.8 GHz high-frequency detection is designed for long, narrow corridors and passageways where people often approach the sensor directly. The detector switches connected lighting on and off according to movement and the selected control settings. Its surface-mounted AP housing can be fitted to a ceiling even where the ceiling construction does not provide space for a recessed device.
Set the reach in both directions
At the manufacturer's optimum mounting height of 2.8 m, the detection zone extends to 25 × 3 m, or 75 m², for both radial and tangential movement. The stated 25 metres is the total length of the zone. Reach can be adjusted separately in each direction through the app, which helps when the sensor is positioned away from the centre of a corridor. Use the orientation of the STEINEL logo on the housing and the manual's illustration to identify the two directions. The coverage diagram explains the shape, while an on-site test establishes how the particular layout affects detection.
HF signals can detect movement through glass, wood and lightweight partitions. This matters when offices or other occupied rooms adjoin the corridor. During commissioning, check movement inside the intended passage and on the other side of nearby screens or partitions. Normal and test modes help assess the selected location and reduce unwanted activation from areas that the lighting is not intended to serve.
Switch with the available daylight
The white version combines HF detection with mixed-light measurement, allowing the control decision to account for illumination already available in the corridor. The 2–2000 lux response threshold can be adjusted to the way the passage is used and the position of its windows. Teach stores the light level measured at the time it is activated, simplifying initial setup. Daytime operation is available if every detected movement should switch the lights on regardless of daylight. In fully automatic operation, the sensor handles both switching on and switching off according to the selected conditions.
Group control and a wall button
Bluetooth Mesh and the STEINEL Connect app provide configuration and interconnection with compatible devices in groups. The neighbouring-group function helps coordinate lighting in adjoining areas, while each detector's reach can be adapted to its position. Semi-automatic operation lets the user switch the lighting on and leaves switching off to the sensor. An external button connects to control input S; the manual specifies a cable length of less than 50 m between detector and button. This allows manual operation to remain available alongside automatic control.
Timing and the COM1 load
The stay-on time can be set from 10 seconds to 60 minutes. IQ mode adapts the delay to use within a 5–20 minute range. Hallway pulse mode activates the output for two seconds followed by an eight-second pause, for example when controlling a staircase timer. COM1 provides one switched-live relay for switching on and off. When selecting LED lamps or electronic control gear, observe the 600 W limit, a maximum of 8 lamps and total capacitance below 220 μF. These limits apply together, and the connected lamp manufacturer's electrical data must also be considered.

The detector is intended for ceiling mounting at a height of 2–4 m. Its IP54 housing measures 123 × 123 × 62 mm and is specified for indoor use.
