STEINEL Hallway V2 COM1 is a ceiling presence detector with a detection pattern designed for long, relatively narrow corridors. It helps switch lighting on as people enter the circulation area and switch it off after the selected delay when movement is no longer detected. This is the concealed-wiring ceiling version intended for a suitable installation box, rather than the larger surface-mounted version or the separate suspended-ceiling mounting design. The detector uses 5.8 GHz high-frequency sensing. Its maximum elongated detection zone is 25 × 3 m, with electronic adjustment available in both corridor directions. That dimension describes the complete zone, not a distance of 25 metres on each side. Set the position and sensitivity to suit the actual corridor, doorway locations and desired switching point. Depending on their construction, glass, wood and lightweight partitions may permit detection through them. Installation position and range settings therefore also matter when avoiding unwanted activation from adjacent rooms. Although the manufacturer specifies a 360° angle, this is a corridor-shaped detection pattern, not a circular zone with a 25 metre radius.
Mounting height is 2–4 m, with 2.8 m as the optimum height. The front measures 103 × 103 mm and overall depth is 67 mm; these are product dimensions, not packaging measurements. The plastic housing carries an IP20 rating, with a stated ambient operating range of−20 to+50 °C. Choose an indoor position matching the protection rating and secure the detector without vibration. Its long detection axis should align with the corridor, so test people approaching from both directions and at both ends before completing commissioning. The manufacturer also recommends keeping at least three metres between these sensors and Wi-Fi routers or access points.
The COM1 version operates from 220–240 V, 50–60 Hz and provides one relay output for switching the lighting on and off. This output is not a floating contact. The specified 2000 W limit applies to a resistive load, rather than a universal LED load allowance. The current article datasheet specifies a maximum of eight LED or fluorescent load units; the installer must additionally check driver inrush current and compatibility with the intended circuit. COM1 provides switching rather than brightness regulation and has neither a DALI lighting-control output nor a native KNX bus connection. Choose the appropriate separate interface version when a project requires those functions.
Configuration and sensor interconnection use Bluetooth Mesh. Suitable configurations support group parameterisation, neighbouring-group operation and semi-automatic or fully automatic behaviour. Stay-on time is adjustable from 10 seconds to 60 minutes, with IQ mode also available. Group functions help coordinate related corridor sections while the physical COM1 output remains an on/off switching output. The black detector has no local light-level measurement. If switching must depend on daylight, provide a compatible external brightness sensor and integrate its measurement into the Bluetooth system. Without that source, this device is not a standalone twilight switch; this COM1 article itself also has no KNX bus connection. During commissioning, test coverage in each section, manual commands, the selected delay and responses to movement in adjoining spaces. Check the connected luminaires against the actual relay circuit rather than assuming every LED driver behaves alike.
