Product Description
HF detection for rooms with partitions
The STEINEL HF 360-2 COM1 AP is a white Control PRO II presence detector for automatically switching indoor lighting. Its 5.8 GHz high-frequency technology and 360° detection can register movement through glass, wood and lightweight partitions. This makes it useful in washrooms with cubicles, changing areas and ancillary rooms where a screen may obstruct a direct view of the person moving. Stairwells and kitchenettes are further applications in which lighting can follow how the room is being used.
Adjust the coverage to the room
The manufacturer specifies a maximum detection diameter of 12 m for both radial and tangential movement, corresponding to a circular area of up to 113 m². Actual coverage depends on mounting height, the layout of the room and the selected sensitivity. Reach is adjusted electronically in the app. During commissioning, check movement on the other side of lightweight partitions as well as inside the intended room, since HF signals can pass through these materials. Test mode helps assess the chosen position before normal operation is configured.
Use the available daylight
The white version combines HF detection with mixed-light measurement, allowing the switching decision to take the room's existing illumination into account. Its 2–2000 lux response threshold can be selected to suit the application, while Teach stores the measured light level at the time it is activated. This is useful when setting up a room with windows or changing natural light. Daytime operation is available when movement should trigger the lighting regardless of brightness. In fully automatic mode, the detector controls both switching on and switching off according to the selected conditions.
Bluetooth Mesh groups and manual control
Bluetooth Mesh provides wireless configuration and interconnection with compatible devices using the STEINEL Connect app. Group settings coordinate operation, while each detector's reach can be adjusted individually. The neighbouring-group function helps coordinate lighting between adjoining areas. Semi-automatic operation leaves switching on to the user and allows the sensor to switch the lights off after the selected delay. An external button can be connected to input S for manual operation; the operating instructions specify a cable length of less than 50 m between the sensor and button.
Select the timing and connected load
The stay-on time after the last detected movement can be set from 10 seconds to 60 minutes. IQ mode learns from use and adjusts the delay within a 5–20 minute range. Pulse mode provides a two-second output followed by an eight-second pause, for example when controlling a staircase timer. COM1 supplies one switched-live relay output. For LED lamps and electronic control gear, the manual specifies 600 W, no more than 50 units and total capacitance below 220 μF; all three limits must be respected together. The incandescent and halogen lamp rating is 2000 W.
Surface mounting on the ceiling
The AP housing is designed for surface mounting on indoor ceilings, including rooms where a recessed detector is unsuitable. The current product specification gives a mounting range of 2.5–4 m and an optimum height of 2.8 m. Its IP54 enclosure is specified for this indoor application. A magnetic sensor module allows access to the load module during fitting. When choosing the position, follow the manual's minimum separation of three metres from Wi-Fi routers or access points. Connection to the 220–240 V supply must follow the manufacturer's COM1 wiring diagram and the applicable installation requirements.
