Product Description
Two relay outputs for lighting and HVAC control
The STEINEL HF 360-2 COM2 AP is a white surface-mounted presence detector for indoor ceiling installation. The offered manufacturer article is 086787 from the Control PRO II family. It automates lighting in stairwells, ancillary rooms, kitchens and washrooms, while a second output permits compatible heating, ventilation or air-conditioning control. Choose this COM2 version when presence is to support two different room functions. Both outputs are relays. The detector switches lighting on and off; it does not dim the connected luminaires.
Supply voltage is 220–240 V, 50–60 Hz. The first relay switches the lighting phase conductor and is not a floating contact. The manual permits up to 2000 W for resistive, incandescent or halogen loads, and up to 600 W LED/ECG load with combined capacitance below 220 µF. The current exact-article page limits the number to 8 LED or fluorescent units, whereas the shared manual lists 50. This offer applies the stricter eight-unit limit together with the power and capacitance restrictions. Check the proposed drivers' start-up current and load characteristics. The 2000 W figure must not be treated as the permitted LED wattage.
The second relay is a floating HVAC contact. The manual rates B0/B1 for up to 230 W at 230 V, no more than 1 A with cos φ = 1. This is an output for a low-power control circuit and requires appropriate protection. This version does not measure room temperature or humidity and is not a thermostat. Ventilation responds to presence control and its settings rather than climate values measured by the detector. Check the terminal diagram and the proposed equipment's electrical requirements before planning the connection.
Coverage through lightweight partitions
5.8 GHz high-frequency detection covers 360° with a 160° aperture angle. The manufacturer specifies radial and tangential movement coverage of up to Ø12 m, the diameter of the entire zone. The exact article's mounting range is 2.5–4 m, with 2.8 m as the optimum. Detection can work through glass, wood and lightweight partitions. This helps cover toilet cubicles, but movement beyond the intended room may also trigger the detector. The manufacturer does not specify a separate equally large zone for very small movements.
Adjust reach and sensitivity through Bluetooth configuration and verify the result in test mode. The manual shows physical masking stickers for blocking individual directions; these are not programmable sectors. Choose a stable mounting position and maintain the manual's minimum distance of three metres from Wi-Fi routers or access points. After installation, test the routes people use, the cubicles and the edges of the room. Settings should reflect actual use because HF detection may respond beyond the direct line of sight.
Brightness threshold, timing and everyday operation
Built-in mixed-light measurement allows lighting to switch on when a person is detected and available light is insufficient. The response threshold is 2–2000 lx, with Teach and daytime modes. The lighting stay-on time is adjustable from 10 seconds to 60 minutes. IQ mode adapts it to use within a 5–20-minute range. Pulse mode switches the output on for two seconds followed by an eight-second dead time. COM2 does not provide an autonomous constant-light controller or a dedicated twilight-relay mode that operates independently of presence.
Fully automatic operation controls switching on and off. In semi-automatic operation, light is requested with a button and the detector switches it off after the stay-on time. The S button input supports manual control and the presentation mode described in the manual. Bluetooth Mesh supports detector groups and a neighbouring-group function. Separately, the manual permits a parallel L′ connection of up to ten detectors. Parallel lighting outputs are a different arrangement from Bluetooth grouping; the HVAC contacts must not automatically be wired according to the lighting-relay diagram.
Housing and installation conditions
The plastic housing is white, RAL 9003, with a net weight of 276 g. The exact AP drawing gives 123 × 123 × 57 mm. The AP housing is secured to the ceiling surface. Its IP54 rating does not change the manufacturer's intended indoor use. The manual gives −20 to +50 °C, while the current article page gives −25 to +50 °C; this listing uses the common −20 to +50 °C range. The manufacturer provides a five-year warranty subject to its terms.
