Product Description
STEINEL L 585 S is a black outdoor wall light with a 180° motion sensor. A round mouth-blown crystal glass shade gives the light a simple, rounded shape for entrances, terraces and garages. The light switches on when movement is detected and ambient brightness is below the selected twilight threshold.
Replaceable E27 bulb
The fitting has one E27 socket; the manufacturer specifies an incandescent bulb rated at up to 60 W. The bulb is not included. Brightness, colour temperature and colour rendering depend on the bulb, so the fitting has no fixed lumen or kelvin value. The user can replace the bulb.
This light switches the bulb on and off; it does not dim it. The manual recommends an on-time of at least 5 minutes for compact fluorescent lamps (CFL). Manufacturer information does not specify a separate maximum LED or CFL load.
Motion sensor and detection area
The 180° PIR sensor detects heat radiation from moving people or animals. Reach is up to 10 m across the detection zone and up to 3 m when approaching directly. Detection is best when the usual route crosses the sensor's field of view. Walls and glass block the heat radiation used for detection.
The optimum mounting height is 2 m; the specified range is 1.8–3 m. The sensor also detects movement directly below the light. The sensor can be tilted through a 70° vertical range to suit the entrance or path. Included masking stickers screen out unwanted detection directions such as the street or neighbouring property.
Time and twilight settings
The 5 sec–35 min time setting determines how long the light stays on after the last movement. New movement restarts the timer. The 2–1000 lx twilight threshold determines how dark it must be before movement switches the light on. Adjust the settings using the controls on the luminaire.
A brief off/on operation of a mains switch can trigger the light for the selected on-time. This model has no separate continuous-light mode, basic light or soft start.
Housing for outdoor use
The clear mouth-blown crystal glass globe is combined with a UV-resistant plastic base. IP44 protects against water splashes and solid objects of at least 1 mm. IK03 describes tested resistance to mechanical impact. The light is intended for mounting on an outdoor wall.
Dimensions, connection and package contents
Dimensions 229 × 215 × 312 mm (depth × width × height), net weight 1110 g. Supply 230–240 V AC, 50 Hz. Electrical protection class II means double or reinforced insulation. The cable can enter from the wall or run along its surface; follow the model's installation instructions. Operating temperature −20 to +40 °C.
Sensor standby consumption is 0.55 W, additional to the bulb's consumption when lit. Bluetooth, app and remote control are not provided; manufacturer-supported light interconnection is not available.
The package contains the luminaire, mounting accessories, sensor masking stickers and instructions. The bulb is sold separately. Clean the sensor lens with a slightly damp cloth without detergents. 3-year manufacturer warranty under its terms.
Manufacturer spare parts
The manufacturer lists replacement glass shade 003548 for this model. An additional replacement shade is not included with the luminaire.
Dimensions follow the current manufacturer specification table. The downloadable drawing still shows 307 mm height and 228 mm depth; the current table gives 312 and 229 mm respectively. Use the separate A4 drilling template, printed at 100% scale.
