Product Description
STEINEL L 800 SC Amber Light is an outdoor wall light that combines exceptionally warm amber illumination with a motion sensor concealed inside the housing. Article 091361 also appears in price lists under the name BUGFRIENDLY. Its simple horizontal aluminium housing in anthracite suits entrances, terraces, courtyards and exterior walls. The light is directed downwards only, illuminating the lower wall and nearby area without deliberately sending light upwards.
The fixed 1800 K colour temperature gives this version a distinctly warm amber appearance. It does not change between white light during the day and amber light at night. The BUGFRIENDLY designation refers to an insect-friendlier approach to lighting with very warm light; it does not describe an insect repellent or an insect trap. An integrated 7.7 W LED system with 428 lm provides illumination for a nearby outdoor area. For a wider space, the installation should be planned around the downward distribution and the distances involved. The LED light source and control gear are not replaceable.
The integrated intelligent high-frequency iHF sensor detects motion through a 160° angle with an adjustable reach of 1–5 m. There is no prominent external PIR lens, preserving the clean outline of the wall light. STEINEL recommends a mounting height of 2 m and specifies a maximum of 2.5 m. Electronic adjustment lets the detection area be tailored to the location, although the surrounding objects and actual approach routes should still be checked during commissioning. The instructions also note that weather can produce unwanted switching. After installation, test the paths people actually use and reduce the reach if movement outside the intended area is being detected.
The STEINEL Connect app and Bluetooth Mesh provide convenient setting and wireless grouping with compatible lights, without additional control wiring. The app offers adjustment of the twilight threshold, stay-on time, basic illumination, main illumination and soft light start. Both the basic and main light levels are adjustable from 10–100%. Basic illumination can be disabled or operated according to brightness and time settings, while detected movement activates the main light. This allows a subdued orientation level during the night with a brighter response when somebody approaches. The twilight threshold is adjustable from 2–2000 lx and the stay-on time from 5 seconds to 60 minutes. A continuous-light option is also available. These functions change the brightness while the amber colour temperature remains fixed. Brightness adjustment is implemented within the luminaire; an external mains dimmer is not the specified control method.
Designed for surface mounting on an exterior wall, this light connects to a 220–240 V supply. Its IP44 rating supports outdoor use when the required mounting position and cable entry are respected. With dimensions of 146 × 230 × 88 mm, the fitting has a compact horizontal form, so its projection from the wall and the available space can be assessed before installation. Mains power must be isolated before any connection work, and fitting should be carried out by a qualified installer. Routine cleaning requires only a damp cloth without detergent. STEINEL specifies a three-year manufacturer's warranty for this model, subject to the applicable warranty terms.
