Product Description
STEINEL XSolar GL-S in silver is a solar LED bollard with a motion sensor for garden paths, patios and driveway areas. Its solar panel charges the built-in battery during the day and the light responds automatically to movement after dark. No mains connection or buried power cable is required.
Warm light for paths and entrance areas
The integrated 6-LED system provides 150 lm at 3000 K warm white with a maximum complete-luminaire input of 1.2 W. Aim it towards the required section of path or patio. The manufacturer indicates an illuminated area of up to approximately 20 m²; the result depends on mounting height, aiming and the surroundings.
Three heights from the supplied profiles
Two pole profiles and connecting pieces are included. Combine them for a total luminaire height of 628, 808 or 1178 mm. The low version suits low-level path lighting; the taller arrangement leaves more clearance around the light head. Maximum dimensions are 188 × 194 × 1178 mm (depth × width × height). Bolt the base plate to a stable, level surface; this is not a push-in ground spike.
Aim the solar panel and light head separately
A monocrystalline glass solar panel is integrated at the top. It rotates +180°/−150° and tilts 55°; the LED head rotates ±60° and tilts 55°. A built-in compass helps you face the panel south while directing the light and sensor where needed. Choose a sunny site away from tree or roof shadows. This package is not supplied with a separate remote solar panel or extension lead.
140° motion detection with automatic ON time
The passive infrared (PIR) sensor detects moving heat sources over 140°. At the manufacturer test height of 1 m, reach is up to 5 m across the detection area or 1.5 m on direct approach. Aim across the normal walking direction and keep the field of view clear; the sensor does not detect through glass or walls. A sneak-by detection zone covers the area below the sensor. Individual segment masking is not provided.
Automatic operation begins at an ambient level of approximately 2 lx. The light software chooses an ON time of 10–30 seconds according to operating conditions. This is not a separately user-adjustable timer; the user selects the operating programme.
P1 or P2: movement-only or a low basic-light level
Use the selector below the light head: P0 is OFF, P1 provides light on movement and P2 adds approximately 3% basic light. In P2, movement raises the output to full brightness; afterwards it returns to a low orientation light. Basic-light duration adapts to available energy and seasonal conditions, so brightness throughout the whole night is not fixed.
The factory setting is P0. A brief test mode runs after activation. During periods with little sunshine, P1 helps conserve stored energy. Bluetooth, app control and networking with other lights are not provided.
Battery, charging and winter operation
A 2500 mAh lithium iron phosphate battery (LiFePO₄) is included according to the current manufacturer product information. The solar panel charges it automatically. Charging takes substantially longer in winter, prolonged overcast weather or shade. Available light depends on sunshine, stored charge and the operating mode.
The manufacturer claim of up to 60 days of light reserve refers to a charged battery and the manual condition of 20 motion activations per night. It does not mean 60 days of continuous illumination. Basic lighting and frequent triggering consume the reserve more quickly; winter performance depends on the sunshine available at the actual site.
If stored energy is insufficient, recharge through micro USB: 5 V, 1 A maximum. The manual specifies up to 6 hours for adapter charging. A micro USB charger and charging cable are not included. Charge only in a dry room because the open socket is not protected against water. A flashing red LED indicates charging; a steady red LED indicates full charge. Battery replacement is for the manufacturer or a qualified electrician, using the correct replacement for this exact version.
Protection, care and package contents
IP44 provides protection against splashing water and solid objects larger than 1 mm. Class III electrical protection refers to its safety extra-low-voltage battery supply. Impact resistance is IK03 and the specified operating temperature is −20…+40 °C. The housing is aluminium with a transparent plastic LED cover. Keep the solar panel clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent. Switch off and recharge periodically during prolonged storage to prevent deep discharge.
Included: luminaire with LED system, solar panel and rechargeable battery, base plate, two pole profiles, connectors, mounting screws and wall plugs, instructions. Net weight: 2846 g. The light source is integrated and is not a replaceable bulb. 3-year manufacturer warranty subject to its terms.
