Product Description
Optonica 6236 is a 12 V LED power supply for strip lighting in furniture, recesses, shelves and other indoor installations. It converts the AC mains supply into a constant 12 V DC output for compatible LED strips and other LED products designed for this type of supply. Quick-connect terminals make it easier to connect the wires.
Choosing a compatible LED strip
The power supply is rated at 100 W, with an output current of up to 8.3 A. First check that the strip operates at 12 V, then calculate the combined consumption of all connected sections. For example, 5 m of strip rated at 9.6 W/m represents a 48 W load. Include every strip section and any other loads connected to the same supply in the calculation.
The total load must remain within the supply's power and current ratings. This model has a constant-voltage, or CV, output and must be used with suitable 12 V products. This also matters when replacing a power supply in an existing lighting installation: matching the wattage alone is insufficient; the output voltage and type of supply must also match.
Fanless cooling and installation
The black aluminium housing measures approximately 154 × 53 × 28 mm, allowing installation within furniture where access to the connections and sufficient ventilation are provided. Fanless cooling means there is no cooling-fan noise. The IP20 rating is intended for dry indoor locations; do not position the unit where it can become wet or be closely covered.
The unit accepts a 198–242 V AC input. If brightness or colour control is required for the LED strip, select a suitable controller for the 12 V output side and check its load rating as well. The power supply itself is not intended for dimming with a mains dimmer.
