Product Description
STEINEL HF 180 COM1 is a concealed wall presence switch using high-frequency radar technology. Its white housing and control buttons suit offices, corridors, ancillary rooms and washrooms where automatic lighting should remain available alongside manual switching.
Radar detection through light obstructions
The 5.8 GHz HF system detects movement independently of body temperature and can operate through glass, timber and lightweight partitions. Its 180° detection zone is rated at up to 8 m radial and tangential reach. This helps detect someone entering a room, while sensitivity and positioning should be adjusted to avoid unwanted response to neighbouring spaces.
Automatic and manual operation
The COM1 version provides a relay output. Semi-automatic and fully automatic modes are available alongside manual control using the buttons. The timer adjusts from30 s to 30 min and the twilight threshold from 2 to 1000 lx, with a TEACH function. Settings are made with potentiometers and DIP switches or a suitable separately purchased remote control.
Settings and connected load
Wired master/master and master/slave interconnection are supported. The mounting range is 1.2–2.2 m, ideally 1.2 m; the IP20 housing is intended for dry indoor areas. The manufacturer lists dimensions of 30×80×80 mm and illustrates the recessed insert and front projection separately in its mounting drawing.
Resistive load up to 2000 W; separate LED limits. LED < 2 W: 100 W; 2–8 W: 300 W; > 8 W: 600 W. LED limits depend on the wattage group of the connected light sources and must not be replaced with the incandescent or halogen load rating. Use the circuit diagram for the actual interface version.
Practical use: the detector controls separately connected lighting according to movement and the selected ambient-light threshold. It is not a luminaire with an integrated LED source. Choose its location to suit the room shape, direction of travel and electrical interface.
Installation and everyday use
Concealed wall mounting in dry indoor areas; 3-wire connection. The installation-height range is 1.2–2.2 m, with 1.2 m as the optimum reference height. The sensor uses a 220–240 V AC supply; follow the circuit for the actual interface version. The time setting controls how long lighting remains on after the last movement, while the twilight threshold prevents unnecessary switching in a bright room.
Also observe the lamp-count and capacitive-load limits: no more than 8 LED or fluorescent lamps and up to 176 µF. These limits apply in addition to the total wattage rating.
