Product Description
STEINEL GL 80 SC is a silver outdoor LED bollard with sensor for paths, driveways, courtyards and gardens. A rectangular column and cube-shaped light head give it a clean, restrained design. Its integrated LED system provides 650 lm at 9.1 W with 3000 K warm-white light. Settings and groups are managed using Bluetooth Mesh and the STEINEL Connect app. Article number: 055486.

Concealed iHF sensor — light when you approach
The intelligent high-frequency iHF sensor is concealed in the light head and detects movement in a 160° zone. Reach can be adjusted in the app from 1 to 5 m on two axes, with a maximum specified detection area of 35 m². The manufacturer specifies up to 5 m for movement both across and directly towards the sensor. This is the motion-detection range, not the length of the illuminated area.
iHF analyses reflected high-frequency signals to help distinguish people from moving branches and other interference. Reduce the detection zone if the light also responds beyond the intended path. The light is designed to stand on its column at ground level.
Settings and lighting groups
- Main light 10–100%: select the brightness you need or switch the light off.
- Soft light start and fade-out: brightness changes gradually.
- Bluetooth Mesh groups: control compatible lights together from a smartphone or tablet.
- Weekly schedule: set switching times for individual days of the week.
- Continuous light: the light can remain on without a motion command.
- Adjustable basic light: reduced light for orientation; movement switches the light to its selected main brightness. Timed operation or all-night lighting is available.
- 5 s–60 min: main-light duration after the last detected movement.
- 2–2000 lx: ambient-light threshold for motion-controlled switching. A lower value restricts operation to darker conditions.
- Teach-in: save the current ambient brightness as the twilight threshold.
- Sensor-Off: disable an individual light’s sensor while retaining its response to commands from the rest of the group.
Bluetooth provides control, not electrical power. Each light needs a mains connection. Brightness is adjusted in the STEINEL Connect app; no separate remote control is required.
Understanding light output and energy ratings
650 lm is the complete luminaire’s light output; 71 lm/W is its luminous efficacy. 3000 K describes a warm-white colour, while CRI / Ra 82 describes colour rendering. SDCM 3 indicates initial light-colour consistency. The LEDs use the passive Passive Thermo Control cooling system.
The integrated LS-0019 light source has energy class F and an energy-label value of 10 kWh/1000 h; its EPREL entry is 804380. The label applies to the light source. The luminaire’s specified rated output is 9.1 W, while network standby consumption Pnet is 0.45 W.
The manufacturer specifies L70B50 lifetime above 60,000 hours at 25°C and 50,000 hours at maximum operating temperature. L70B50 is a statistical lumen-maintenance rating: at the end of the stated period, at least half the evaluated light sources retain at least 70% of their initial output. It is not a warranty period or a guarantee of every light’s operating life.
Installation, materials and protection
GL 80 is designed for mounting on a firm outdoor base, for example beside a path or driveway. Secure the base plate to the surface; do not bury the light in the ground. The column and base are aluminium, the light head is UV-resistant plastic and the diffuser is opal plastic. Dimensions are 161 × 110 × 633 mm (depth × width × height). The manufacturer’s data table gives a height of 633 mm, while the mounting drawing shows 648 mm; allow for the drawing when planning installation space.
Supply: 220–240 V, 50–60 Hz. Electrical protection class I requires connection of the protective earth conductor (PE). IP44 means protection against solid objects of 1 mm or larger and splashing water. IK03 is the enclosure impact-resistance rating. Permitted operating temperature is −20…+40°C.
The manufacturer’s instructions require at least 3 m clearance from a Wi-Fi router or access point. To avoid interference between nearby iHF sensors, allow at least 5 m between active sensor lights, or group them in the app and disable selected sensors using Sensor-Off. Those lights can still respond to commands from the other sensors in the group.
Package contents and care
The package contains one light with an integrated LED system and control gear, a column profile, base plate, Allen key, 4 base-fixing screws, 4 plugs and 2 × 2 connecting screws. The connecting screws join the column to the base and light head. No separate bulb is needed. The LED light source and control gear cannot be replaced. A remote control and house-number stickers are not included. The manufacturer warranty is 3 years, subject to STEINEL terms.
No regular technical maintenance is required. Clean the housing with a lightly damp cloth without detergents; disconnect the power first and keep water away from electrical parts. Mains installation should be carried out by a qualified installer.
GL 80 colour and sensor versions
