Product Description
DALI-2 input sensing for room-control systems
The STEINEL HF 360-2 DALI-2 IPD AP is a white surface-mounted presence detector for indoor ceiling installation. Article 086602 belongs to the Control PRO II family. High-frequency detection suits stairwells, ancillary rooms, kitchens and washrooms with cubicles. The device provides movement and room-condition information to the control system. Select this version as part of a complete DALI-2 installation: it supplies input data, while a compatible application controller and the connected lighting drivers determine what the luminaires actually do.
DALI-2 IPD means Input Device. The detector contains no lighting-load relay and no independent APC controller. It does not directly switch a luminaire's 230 V supply and is not a phase-cut dimmer. Power comes from the DALI bus; the manual specifies 12–22.5 V DC and the current page 12–23 V. This listing uses their common 12–22.5 V range. The bus connection is not SELV. A bus power supply and application controller are not included; select them alongside the other system components. Connect the detector according to its article-specific DALI diagram and never apply mains voltage to the bus terminals. Interface choice matters because visually similar COM1, KNX and DALI-2 APC products have different connections and responsibilities.
Movement, brightness and environmental data
This full IPD version provides four input types: brightness measurement, movement detection, temperature and relative humidity. The DALI interface description assigns each to a separate instance. This lets the application controller use the required information and link lighting behaviour to the use of the room. Temperature and humidity are measurements available to the system, rather than extra heating or ventilation relay outputs. CO₂, VOC and smoke-measurement functions from other multisensor products are not assigned to this detector.
Built-in mixed-light measurement supplies brightness information to the control system. Constant-light regulation, switching thresholds and lighting delays must be implemented through a suitable controller. The IPD detector does not perform these lighting-load functions independently. Its current table lists 2–2000 lx but no Teach function, basic-light operation or standalone constant-light controller. It is a presence and room-data input device, rather than a separate twilight relay that directly switches a lamp.
Coverage and communication
5.8 GHz HF sensing provides 360° detection with a 160° aperture angle. Radial and tangential movement coverage extends up to Ø12 m, the diameter of the full area. The exact article specifies a mounting height of 2.5–4 m, with 2.8 m as the optimum. HF detection can respond through glass, wood and lightweight partitions. This can be helpful in cubicle areas but may also produce responses from an adjacent space. Test the room boundaries and walking routes after installation, then adjust the detector to the intended coverage.
Electronic reach and sensitivity settings help adapt detection to the room. The manufacturer provides Bluetooth configuration and detector networking, while the principal system-data interface remains the DALI-2 bus. Bluetooth does not replace bus power or the application controller. The supplied interface description explains supported DALI commands and STEINEL-specific parameters. Two included stickers can physically mask selected detection directions; these are not separately programmable sectors. Follow the installation requirements for a secure, stable fixing and separation from Wi-Fi equipment, and verify coverage at the actual site. Grouping and controller configuration should reflect how the room and neighbouring spaces are used.
Bus current and AP housing
Distinguish the different current ratings when designing the bus. The current exact-article page specifies 21 mA typical at 16 V, 38 mA maximum during regular operation at 10 V, and 84 mA maximum according to IEC 62386-101. These describe different conditions and should not be replaced by the smallest figure when sizing the power supply. The manual bases planning on the regular 10 V current with an additional 20% allowance. The system designer needs to check supply capacity and the requirements of all other devices on the line. The 10 V current-test condition does not change the currently specified 12–23 V supply range for this detector.
The plastic housing is white, RAL 9003. The exact AP drawing and manual figures 3.3/3.4 show 123 × 123 × 57 mm, and the exact article's net weight is 250 g. The AP version mounts on the ceiling surface and has the mounting housing appropriate to that version. Its IP20 rating is intended for indoor use. The common operating-temperature range of the supplied manual and current article page is −20 to +40 °C. The shared manual technical table on page 63 reverses the HF and Hallway depth labels; the exact HF article drawings are used here. The detector is not intended for rain exposure or open outdoor installation. The manufacturer provides a five-year warranty subject to its terms.
Images and documents
The main photograph shows the exact white DALI-2 IPD AP article 086602. The second photograph shows HF 360-2 DALI-2 IPD UP 086619 as a comparison with another mounting version; it is not included and does not change the supplied detector's mounting. Drawings and the DALI circuit diagram are technical illustrations. Refer to the exact article's diagram and manual for connection and to the linked DALI-2 interface description for system integration.
