Product Description
HF detection for switching indoor lighting
The STEINEL HF 360-2 COM1 UP is a black concealed-wiring presence detector for indoor ceiling installation. Article 086770 belongs to the Control PRO II family. It supports automatic lighting in stairwells, kitchens, ancillary rooms and washrooms with cubicles. Movement detection triggers switching of the connected lighting load. Select this exact COM1 interface for applications requiring a single lighting relay. Other products in the same housing family have different interfaces; the KNX and DALI versions do not define the capabilities or electrical connection of this COM1 article.
The detector requires 220–240 V, 50–60 Hz mains power. COM1 switches the phase conductor, and its lighting output is not a floating contact. The manufacturer specifies up to 2000 W for resistive or incandescent and halogen loads. LED systems have a separate manual limit of 600 W LED/ECG load, with no more than 50 units and combined capacitance below 220 µF. The current article table also lists 1000 VA for low-voltage halogen loads. Check the characteristics of the proposed LED drivers when designing the circuit; the 2000 W rating must not be transferred to LED lighting.
Coverage and adjustment to the room
5.8 GHz high-frequency detection provides 360° coverage with a 160° aperture angle. Both radial and tangential movement can be detected across a zone of up to Ø12 m, the diameter of the full area. The exact article specifies a mounting range of 2.5–4 m, with 2.8 m as the optimum. Actual performance depends on the room, movement and installation position, so test all required areas after fitting. The manufacturer does not specify a separate equally large zone for detecting very small movements.
HF detection can respond through glass, wood and lightweight partitions. This can help cover toilet cubicles but may also cause a response to movement outside the intended room. Adjust reach and sensitivity electronically through Bluetooth configuration and check the result in test mode. Manual figures 6.1–6.3 show physical directional masking with stickers. These are not individually programmable sectors. Mount the detector securely on a stable surface and follow the manual's minimum distance of three metres from a Wi-Fi router or access point. Assess these requirements alongside the routes people use through the space.
Brightness, timing and manual operation
The black version requires an external brightness measurement. The current manufacturer article page specifies external light measurement for black detectors. Its technology table lists HF detection, whereas the white version explicitly includes mixed-light metering. For daylight-dependent lighting, allow for a compatible external measurement and check compatibility with the chosen Bluetooth configuration. An additional brightness sensor is not included. The listed twilight threshold and Teach function do not establish that the black housing can itself measure brightness. This COM1 article is not a KNX bus detector.
The stay-on time is adjustable from 10 seconds to 60 minutes. IQ mode adapts it to user behaviour within a 5–20-minute range. Pulse mode switches the output on for two seconds and then introduces an eight-second dead time, for example when controlling a staircase timer. Fully automatic operation controls both switching on and off. Semi-automatic operation requires the lighting to be requested with a button, while the detector switches it off after the chosen time. The external S button input supports manual operation and the presentation mode described in the manual.
Bluetooth Mesh allows detectors to be arranged in groups and supports a neighbouring-group function. The group follows its master detector's settings, while reach is adjusted to suit each location. The manual separately permits up to ten detectors to be connected in parallel through L′; this is a different arrangement from wireless grouping. This version switches lighting and has no dimming output, constant-light controller or COM2 ventilation relay. Temperature and humidity data functions from the bus versions are not assigned to this COM1 article.
Concealed-wiring housing and installation
The plastic housing is black, RAL 9005. Its UP drawing shows 103 × 103 × 61 mm, and the exact net weight is 161 g. This is the concealed-wiring UP version: the load module is secured in a suitable installation box and the magnetic sensor module is fitted to it. The surface-mounted AP housing is a separate article. Its IP20 rating suits indoor locations rather than outdoor or wet environments. The current table specifies −25 to +50 °C, while the supplied manual gives −20 to +50 °C; this listing uses their common −20 to +50 °C operating range. The manufacturer provides a five-year warranty subject to its terms.
