Product Description
STEINEL XSolar SOL-O in anthracite is a compact outdoor solar wall light with downward illumination. Its integrated solar panel stores energy in the battery during the day, so no 230 V mains connection is needed at the wall. This version responds to ambient light levels and has no motion detector.
Low-level light for orientation and façade accents
The 7 lm output and 0.07 W power input are intended for low-level orientation lighting. This is not a bright entrance or courtyard floodlight. It provides 3000 K warm-white light, with brightness automatically adapted to battery charge. Its downward light can also illuminate an existing wall-mounted number or a small façade feature; this version does not include a number panel.
Dusk control and two lighting programmes
- OFF — off: factory setting.
- P1 — evening mode: light starts when ambient light falls below 2 lux and switches off automatically after approximately 4 hours.
- P2 — night mode: reduced continuous light from dusk until dawn.
In both modes, electronics adjust brightness to battery charge. There is no motion sensor, so approaching the light does not increase its brightness. Select the mode on the light itself; app control and an external dimmer are not provided. The manual specifies P2 for first activation.
Solar energy with additional USB-C charging
The integrated monocrystalline solar panel charges the supplied lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) battery: 2000 mAh. Choose a position with as much direct sunlight as possible, preferably facing south. Overhanging roofs, trees, dirt and installation behind glass reduce available solar energy.
When sunlight is insufficient, charge through the USB-C socket (5 V, up to 3 A); STEINEL specifies up to 6 hours for charging. The USB-C cable and charger are not included. Remove the body from the wall bracket and open the socket cover to charge. USB-C is an input for charging the light, not a power output for a phone.
A flashing red LED during normal operation indicates low charge. While a charger is connected, flashing means charging and a steady red light means fully charged. With a deeply discharged battery, the LED may take up to approximately 10 minutes to start flashing. Fully charge the battery before first use.
Outdoor installation, protection and care
Dimensions are 91 × 242 × 38 mm (depth × width × height). The manufacturer lists a net weight of 557 g. The housing is aluminium and the light cover is structured plastic. IP44 provides protection against splashing water and solid objects larger than 1 mm; IK03 specifies impact resistance. Electrical protection class III corresponds to low-voltage battery operation.
The operating range is −20…+40 °C, while the battery charges only from 0 °C. Operation below freezing therefore does not mean the battery can charge at that temperature. Short winter days and snow may make additional USB-C charging necessary. Keep the panel clean using a soft cloth and mild detergent.
The integrated LED light source is not replaceable. STEINEL specifies 50,000 h, L70B10; this describes LED lumen maintenance, not battery lifetime. Colour rendering is CRI 80–89 and initial colour consistency is SDCM 5. For prolonged storage, select off mode, fully charge the battery and recharge it periodically. Users must not open the battery enclosure; repairs require specialist service.
