Product Description

STEINEL L 190 S is a white outdoor wall light with a 180° motion sensor. Its traditional lantern shape combines an ornamented die-cast aluminium housing and clear glass, suitable for entrances, porches and traditional facades. The light switches on when movement is detected and ambient brightness is below the selected twilight threshold.

Replaceable E27 bulb

The fitting has one E27 socket; the manufacturer specifies an incandescent bulb rated at up to 100 W. The bulb is not included. Brightness, colour temperature and colour rendering depend on the bulb, so the fitting has no fixed lumen or kelvin value. The user can replace the bulb.

Basic light and gradual brightness control require a compatible dimmable bulb. Before choosing an LED or another bulb technology, confirm compatibility with this model's dimming control. Current manufacturer information does not establish universal LED compatibility or a separate maximum LED load.

Compact fluorescent lamps (CFL)

The manufacturer's bulb table permits a non-dimmable CFL for ordinary on/off switching only, with a minimum on-time of 5 minutes. Basic light and soft start require a compatible dimmable CFL according to that table. Check the luminaire and bulb manufacturers' instructions before selecting a different bulb technology.

Motion sensor and detection area

The 180° PIR sensor detects heat radiation from moving people or animals. Reach is up to 12 m across the detection zone and up to 5 m when approaching directly. Detection is best when the usual route crosses the sensor's field of view. Walls and glass block the heat radiation used for detection.

The optimum mounting height is 2 m; the specified range is 1.8–4 m. The manual specifies at least 50 cm clearance from another light to prevent heat from causing unwanted activation. The sensor also detects movement directly below the light. Rotating the two-part sensor lens selects a basic range of 5 m or 12 m. Included clip-on shrouds screen out individual directions and allow finer zoning within approximately 1–12 m.

Time and twilight settings

The 5 sec–15 min time setting determines how long the light stays on after the last movement. New movement restarts the timer. The 2–200 lx twilight threshold determines how dark it must be before movement switches the light on. Adjust the settings using the controls on the luminaire.

Basic light and soft start

Basic light from 0–50% provides low-level orientation lighting after dusk, or leaves the light off until movement is detected. Movement raises brightness to full output; after the selected on-time, the light returns to its previous state.

Soft light start gradually raises brightness over approximately one second; switch-off is also gradual. Both functions depend on the bulb's compatibility with the dimming control.

Four-hour continuous light

The 4-hour manual override is useful when spending longer outside. Activate it with two quick off/on operations of an external switch in the mains supply, at intervals of approximately 0.5–1 second as shown in the manual. A red indicator confirms the mode. Sensor operation resumes after four hours; one off/on operation cancels the override earlier.

Settings memory and reset

The time, twilight and basic-light settings described in the manual are retained through a power interruption. The twilight threshold can be taught at the desired ambient brightness. According to the manual, holding all three programming buttons for approximately 5 seconds restores 200 lx, 10 seconds and basic light off. The exact button procedure is shown in the linked manual.

Housing for outdoor use

The ornamented die-cast aluminium housing creates a traditional lantern silhouette, while clear glass panels leave the chosen bulb visible. IP44 protects against water splashes and solid objects of at least 1 mm. IK03 describes tested resistance to mechanical impact. The light is intended for mounting on an outdoor wall.

Dimensions, connection and package contents

Dimensions 147 × 217 × 335 mm (depth × width × height), net weight 1612 g. Supply 230–240 V AC, 50 Hz. Electrical protection class II means double or reinforced insulation. The cable can enter from the wall or run along its surface; follow the model's installation instructions. Operating temperature −20 to +40 °C.

Sensor standby consumption is 0.8 W, additional to the bulb's consumption when lit. Bluetooth, app and remote control are not provided; manufacturer-supported light interconnection is not available.

The package contains the luminaire, mounting accessories, sensor masking shrouds and instructions. The bulb is sold separately. Clean the sensor lens with a slightly damp cloth without detergents. 3-year manufacturer warranty under its terms.

Manufacturer spare parts

The manufacturer lists glass set 000813 and replacement base 002190 for this model. These spare parts are not included with the luminaire.
