Product Description

DALI lighting detection with its own application controller

The STEINEL LuxMaster HF 360-2 DALI-2 APC AP is a white surface-mounted presence detector for indoor ceiling installation. The offered article is 086589. It supports lighting control in stairwells, kitchens, ancillary rooms and washrooms, including rooms divided into cubicles. APC means Application Controller: this version has its own control application, which uses presence and brightness to issue lighting commands to DALI luminaire drivers. Choose it when the project requires movement detection together with autonomous dimming and constant-light control.

It requires a 220–240 V, 50–60 Hz mains connection. The detector supplies and controls a DALI line for up to 64 DALI electronic control gear units. DALI dimming adjusts compatible drivers; it is not a phase-cut output for an ordinary dimmable mains lamp. Luminaires and drivers are not included. The manual distinguishes a guaranteed bus supply current of 54 mA according to IEC 62386-101, a STEINEL-guaranteed 128 mA, and a maximum supply current of 250 mA. These figures describe different limits. Check the current requirements of all proposed bus devices when planning the system.

Constant-light regulation and dimming

Built-in brightness measurement and constant-light control let the detector supplement available daylight with the artificial light needed for the selected target. As daylight changes, it adjusts the DALI lighting level. Teach mode can adopt the chosen measured brightness, and settings define the starting, minimum and maximum dimming levels. The lux value measured at the detector is not automatically the value on a desk or the floor. Commission the controller for the actual room and work surface.

Broadcast mode controls the connected DALI devices together. After addressing, drivers can be divided into up to four DALI groups, with basic lighting, constant-light settings and offsets between groups. Lighting scenes and button control are also available. In light-sensor mode, movement detection is suspended and the device performs pure constant-light regulation. This is a selected operating mode. Nightmatic switches lighting on or off according to ambient brightness, independently of movement. A DALI-2 IPD input device has a different role: this APC article calculates and sends lighting-control commands itself.

The manual provides basic lighting from 10 to 50 %. It can follow the main-light stay-on period or operate in relation to brightness. The exact current article page specifies a lighting stay-on time of 30 seconds to 60 minutes. The shared manual text mentions five seconds and its technical table ten seconds; this listing uses the current article's 30-second minimum. Fully automatic operation switches lighting on and off. Semi-automatic operation requires light to be requested with a button. The S input and compatible DALI buttons support manual switching or dimming.

HF coverage and networking

5.8 GHz high-frequency detection covers 360° with a 160° aperture angle. Radial and tangential movement detection extends across up to Ø12 m, the diameter of the full zone. The exact article's mounting range is 2.5–4 m, with 2.8 m as the optimum. HF detection works through glass, wood and lightweight partitions. This helps cover cubicles but may also cause a response to movement beyond the intended room. Set reach and sensitivity in the STEINEL Connect app and test the actual installation.

The manual provides physical masking stickers for blocking detection in particular directions; these are not separately programmable sectors. Bluetooth Mesh supports configuration, detector groups and neighbouring-group functions. Wireless networking does not remove the need for the correct mains and DALI connections. The manual describes selected compatible DALI-2 input devices for expanding coverage and DALI buttons. DALI-2 certification covers single-master applications with DALI control gear; the manufacturer's described use with several control devices does not carry the same DALI-2 certification. Confirm system compatibility before extending the line.

Surface housing for indoor use

The plastic housing is white, RAL 9003, measuring 123 × 123 × 57 mm with a net weight of 268 g. The AP version mounts on the ceiling surface. Its IP54 protection does not change the intended indoor use. The manual gives −20 to +50 °C and the current page −25 to +50 °C; this offer uses their common −20 to +50 °C range. This APC article does not provide the temperature or humidity measurement found in the family's KNX or full IPD versions. The manufacturer provides a five-year warranty subject to its terms.
