Product Description
Presence detection with only 6 mm visible projection
STEINEL IR Quattro SLIM XS 4m COM1 is an especially flat presence detector for dry interiors. Its white RAL 9010 cover projects only 6 mm above the finished surface, helping the ceiling retain a quiet, uncluttered appearance. A complete detector body sits behind that cover, so the visible projection must not be confused with the required recess depth. The model installs in a standard concealed box at the ceiling and suits a small workspace, meeting area or another interior where unobtrusive presence detection is valuable.
The precision Retina lens provides a 4 × 4 m presence area at a mounting height of 2.8 m. The manufacturer specifies the same area for radial and tangential movement, allowing the intended detection footprint to be related directly to the occupied space. Its 360° field contains 408 switching zones. A square detection area fits naturally with room geometry, while the film shroud described in the manual can reduce coverage by up to 40% where an edge needs to be restricted near a passage or another boundary.
Automatic operation with a manual choice
The COM1 version switches one lighting circuit on and off through a relay. Fully automatic operation takes both presence and ambient brightness into account. In semi-automatic mode, users switch the light on themselves and the detector turns it off after the space is vacated. Connecting an external button or switch to the S input provides a direct manual command. This is useful in working environments where the amount of lighting people want changes with daylight, the task being performed or the time of day.
The exact current product table specifies a 1–30 minute time setting and a 10–1000 lx twilight threshold. Teach helps store a suitable ambient light level at the installation. Separately, the manual describes a wider 5-second to 60-minute time range and 2–1000 lx adjustment with the compatible Smart Remote, so available choices need to be matched to the control accessory being used. IQ mode adapts the delay to room use, while test mode helps establish that detection works as intended before normal operating settings are finalised.
RC5, RC8 and Smart Remote are compatible control accessories. The Smart Remote accessory can use Bluetooth to communicate with a phone, but the COM1 detector itself does not provide Bluetooth Mesh networking. For several detection points, the manual describes wired master/master and master/slave connections. Up to ten detectors may be connected on the same phase, and the stated cable-length limit applies to external button or switch wiring. This makes it possible to plan a wired system in which each small detector has a defined role in covering the occupied area.
Recess planning and connected-load compatibility
The housing measures 80 × 80 mm across the visible plane and 55 mm in total depth. Installation requires an appropriate concealed box at least 57 mm deep. A round decorative aperture is also supplied, allowing the visible shape to be matched to the interior. IP20 protection and the 0…+40 °C operating range suit dry indoor locations. The supply is 220–240 V AC, 50–60 Hz. LED ratings depend on individual lamp power: lamps below 2 W permit a total of 16 W, while larger LED lamps permit 64 W, with no more than eight units connected.
- 4 × 4 m presence coverage and a particularly low visible profile.
- Ceiling installation in a concealed box, with square and round trim options.
- Automatic or semi-automatic COM1 switching.
- Teach, IQ, test mode and compatible remote-control accessories.
