Product Description
STEINEL L 22 S is an anthracite outdoor wall light with an opal plastic diffuser and an E27 socket. It is suitable for entrances, building walls, terraces and balconies. The integrated 180° motion sensor switches the light on as needed when someone approaches the house or walks along the facade.
Choose the bulb that suits you
The E27 bulb is sold separately and can be replaced by the user. The manufacturer permits an incandescent bulb up to 60 W or an LED / energy-saving bulb up to 20 W. When selecting an LED bulb, check its actual power consumption and dimensions so it fits inside the luminaire.
Brightness, colour temperature and colour rendering depend on the chosen bulb. The empty fitting has no fixed lumen or kelvin value. The E27 socket allows the bulb to be replaced later while keeping the luminaire.
Motion sensor operation
The 180° PIR sensor detects heat radiation from moving people or animals. Reach is up to 10 m (157 m²) across the detection zone and up to 3 m (14 m²) when approaching directly. For reliable detection, position the light to the side of the expected direction of travel. Optimum mounting height is 2 m, with a maximum of 3 m.
The 5 sec–35 min time setting determines how long the light stays on after the last detected movement; each new detection restarts the timer. The 2–1000 lx twilight setting allows operation in darkness or brighter conditions. Time and twilight settings are adjusted using controls on the fitting. The sensor can be tilted vertically through 90° to adjust reach within approximately 2–10 m, and unwanted detection directions can be screened using the supplied masking stickers. A sneak-by guard also covers the area directly below the sensor. Walls, glass and other obstacles restrict detection of heat radiation.
Housing and outdoor protection
IP44 provides protection against water splashes, making the light suitable for outdoor wall mounting. The stainless steel housing is combined with a UV-resistant opal plastic diffuser. This product is the anthracite variant. IK07 describes tested resistance to mechanical impact.

Dimensions and connection
Dimensions 89 × 162 × 286 mm (depth × width × height), net weight 800 g. Designed for wall mounting with a concealed or surface-mounted supply lead, with a 220–240 V AC, 50–60 Hz supply. Electrical protection class II means double or reinforced insulation. Follow the installation instructions for this model with the power disconnected. Operating temperature −20 to +40 °C.
Some older manufacturer drawings show a different depth; the dimensions here follow the current technical data sheet: 89 × 162 × 286 mm.
Additional operating data
Sensor standby consumption is 0.55 W. The light has no Bluetooth or manufacturer-supported interconnection; each L 22 S operates with its own sensor.
Package contents
One luminaire with motion sensor and detection-zone masking stickers, mounting accessories and instructions; the E27 bulb is not included.
