Product Description
STEINEL IS 3360 MX Highbay DALI-2 APC is a ceiling motion detector for lighting control in spaces with high ceilings. This white square surface-mounted version suits high-bay warehouses, sports halls and comparable commercial interiors where the coverage of a detector designed for low mounting heights may be insufficient. Article 010577 is an autonomous DALI lighting controller: it detects movement, measures brightness and sends commands to compatible lighting control gear. It is a separate control device, so the luminaires and their DALI drivers must be chosen to suit the project.
The passive infrared sensor responds to changes in heat emitted by a moving person or another moving object. Its 360° detection observes the space around the mounting position, with a manufacturer's maximum tangential detection diameter of 36 m. Movement directly towards the detector has a smaller radial coverage diameter. This difference matters when positioning the detector above circulation routes and working areas. Racking, partitions and glass can obstruct the view; PIR detection does not pass through these obstacles. The layout should therefore give the lens an unobstructed view of the areas that require automatic lighting.
The Highbay optics are intended for mounting heights of 4–14 m, with 12 m identified by the manufacturer as the optimum height. This makes the detector suitable for tall interiors, while maximum reach should not be interpreted as identical performance at every height or in every room layout. Installation planning should consider the selected height, movement direction and areas hidden by equipment. Supplied shrouds permit individual lens segments to be masked to avoid detecting activity outside the intended zone. Commissioning in test mode helps check the actual routes used by staff rather than relying only on a theoretical coverage circle.
The DALI-2 APC version is the principal lighting control device. Its broadcast output controls up to 30 compatible electronic ballasts or DALI LED drivers on one control line; it does not provide individually addressed control of several independent lighting groups. A relay wattage limit is not the appropriate way to size the luminaire load because operation uses DALI commands. The drivers must support DALI and the required dimming behaviour, and the luminaires need their own suitable power connections. When extra detectors are connected, the bus current budget and the manufacturer's exact connection diagram also have to be respected.
Constant-light control adjusts artificial lighting in response to the contribution of daylight. The detector can dim compatible drivers as well as switch the lighting on and off, maintaining the chosen brightness level when conditions change. Basic lighting, adjustment of the main lighting level and manual operation through suitable accessories are available. The twilight threshold can be matched to the room's use, while the Teach function stores the desired ambient brightness. The stay-on time determines how long lighting remains active after the last detected movement, allowing operation to be matched to everyday warehouse or sports-hall activity.
The detector requires a 220–240 V mains supply; its DALI conductors must be connected using the diagram for this specific APC version. The white plastic housing provides IP54 protection, and the MX operating instructions specify indoor ceiling mounting. Its compact 95 × 95 mm body projects 65 mm from the mounting surface. Settings are accessible through potentiometers and compatible STEINEL remote controls. Smart Remote is a separately purchased accessory, rather than an integrated Bluetooth connection in this detector. Detection can be extended with compatible DALI-2 input devices for larger spaces, subject to checking the selected system's compatibility and available bus supply before connecting them.
